Ivy K Realty started off as Kumai Realty which opened up in 1989 by Ivy Kumai. Kumai Realty became a household name for real estate in the 90’s and early 2000’s. When Marc Kumai entered the business in 2000 it was decided that the company change to Ivy K Realty in honor of Ivy Kumai who is the founder of the company. Ivy Kumai was an educator before she started her real estate career and her mission was to teach her clients how to “build wealth through real estate”. Today Ivy Kumai is still active in the real estate industry and forms HUIs (local investor groups) to fund small development projects and “fixer upper” flips.
Ivy Kumai started as an educator in the public school system. She pursued a real estate career in the late 70’s and became full time in the early 80’s. In 1989 she started Kumai Realty and became the top 5 companies on Oahu producing over 100 Million in sales annually. Through the help of Bobbie Sawai the property management division was formed and today the company manages over 500 properties throughout Oahu. Ivy Kumai has always been in the top 10 agents on Oahu and recording the highest number of transactions every year. At the peak of her career she would produce over $5M in sales monthly. She spends her free time traveling the world.
Marc Kumai came into the business after graduating from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s of science in business. He opened up the 2nd office in Kakaako and a 3rd location in Waikiki. From 2010-2015 Marc has competed in amateur Muay Thai competitions around the nation and retired after winning the championship belt in Colorado.
